OpTic Dallas is making a substantial move in the Call of Duty League following their departure from Chicago. The OpTic Gaming brand spent a couple seasons in Chicago, one as the Huntsmen and the other as OpTic. This move to Dallas is significant in a couple of ways. One is that the OpTic brand is here to stay after rumors of it folding. But also, this move is going to be a merger between the OpTic and Dallas Empire brands. This single entity will be a combination of two of the most successful CDL franchises to date. As a result, we can expect some fire works to come leading into this next season.

Dallas Empire team came up short for repeat titles with a third place finish in 2021. OpTic Chicago finished two places behind the Empire, which is very low by the OpTic standards. This happened all in a year that FaZe Clan became a household name. Not only did FaZe win CDL Champs this year, they are now about to be a publicly company to boot. You can read more about their plans using this link: FaZe Going Public. To keep the rumor mill going, a potential roster has been you there with the headliner being Seth “Scump” Abner. One name that will not be involved with this merger is formerly Dallas’s Crimsix, who recently signed with NY Subliners. As a result, Crim can start fresh in NY and the OpTic brand gets another crack at CDL dominance.
This merger will not only combine two solid franchises, but it also opens the door for a new CDL franchise to come into the fold. What do you think about this upcoming merger? Let us know by tagging us on social media: #Drop-In Gaming Socials
