TOURNAMENT FORMAT
Draft: The tournament will begin with the 8 captains doing a snake draft to form their teams. Once the teams have formed, all players will be given roles in this discord that give them access to their team’s own voice and text chats, as well as a channel for reporting their scores. Phase 1 of the tournament will begin immediately.
Phase 1 – Round Robin: Divide the 8 teams into two groups of 4 teams each. Each team will play a best-of-5 series against the other teams in their group. This means that each team will play a total of 3 matches in this round. A point system will be used to rank the teams within each group. A series win is worth 1 point and a loss is worth 0 points. The top 2 teams from each group will advance to the next phase of the tournament, while the bottom 2 teams in the group will be eliminated. In case of a tie, the tie breaker will go first to head-to-head result, then to least game losses.
Phase 2 – Double Elimination: The 4 remaining teams will be seeded into a double-elimination bracket based on their rank order from Phase 1 and the bracket will be played out until its conclusion. All series will be best-of-5, and in the grand finals, the team coming from the losers bracket will have to win two series to win the tournament.
GENERAL RULES
All competitors must play on their standard Halo accounts. No smurfs. Accounts must have at minimum 100 hours of gameplay in Halo Infinite and must have their files set to public. To do this, go into your game settings, go to the last tab “Accessibility,” scroll to the bottom, and make sure both Custom and Matchmade games are set to “Share.” If any foul play is suspected during the tournament, the film will be reviewed as necessary to determine any potential disqualification. Competitors may also be disqualified if they are found to be cheating in another tournament prior to this tournament.
Tournament admins may request a cam check for any reason
Maps and Modes: The full round-by-round gametype list will be released the week before the tournament, but will include all the standard HCS gametypes plus a few new gametypes, such as CTF on Overdrive (found here: https://www.halowaypoint.com/halo-infinite/ugc/maps/0919ec3e-6abc-4d09-aa49-5797a60472a2 ). Will update with any other potential new maps ASAP.
Hosting: The team listed first on the tournament bracket will be responsible to host the lobby. Captains are responsible to keep an eye on the discord to make sure they are communicating with the admin team about putting the lobby together and checking if we need to add an observer to the lobby for the broadcast.
Connectivity: Players are responsible for ensuring that they have a stable internet connection. In case of game crashes, the match will be restarted using HCS rules. Score differential will carry over into the replayed match.
Cheating: Any form of cheating, hacking, or ghosting (someone logging into your account or playing for you), is strictly prohibited. Any team caught doing so will be disqualified from the tournament immediately and also be banned indefinitely for all future G1 tournaments.
Reporting: Teams must report the match results to the tournament organizers after each match. Any discrepancies or issues must be reported immediately.
Fair play: Teams are expected to conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner throughout the tournament. Unsportsmanlike behavior, including trash-talking, excessive taunting, and poor behavior will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification.
